Pretzel Pals

Anatomy Study

Project: Personal Game Project I Am Developing With Friends

Pretzel Pals started as a game jam inside college, in which we were tasked with making a game related to anxiety. We won this game jam, and decided to continue collaborating on this project in our spare time. My role in this project is as a 3D modeller, rigger and animator, however in our group we do not have strictly set roles, meaning everyone is helping with every part of the project, although we each have our strengths.

Challenges:

  • Adding Elbow and Knee IKs to the rig for wider range of movement

The Model

Shown above is one of the character models for our game. Once our team had decided on a style and drawn up some concept art for the characters, I created a base character model that could be used for all the characters. I then established the style we would be going for by creating the rest of this character model, and applying materials to it. I decided to go for a cartoonish cell-shaded and outlined look for the character to match its general shape and design. This was modelled in Blender.
